New toy

Post by Fast Eddy »

Some of you may know from conversations we have had that i wanted to go one step further in my quest for lightweightness so i have jointly bought this with a customer.

Chris helped pick it up on the towing dolly we have just invested in.

It is a formula 27, a respected 7esque car with inboard front shocks. It had it's heavy Ford OHC engine taken out some years ago anf that was replaced with a fireblade engine.

It is only around 130bhp being the early 893cc engine, but weighs around 500kg so a pretty good power/weight. The previous owner had been using it for sprinting and spent alot of time getting the handling sorted. I thought the handling was more important than power when trying this new type of car as it will drive differently from my normal cars.

I want to do a little work in other areas so it will not see the track for a while. I cannot wait to give it a go though. It sounds great, but needs silencer rework to comfortably meet track noise regulations. I know a man who can sort it lol.

Thanks Stu, if we get on ok with it we will go for more power for 2012.

I think that this will be well suited to Cadwell and the new twistys at Snetterton. When is the first autotest booked then lol.

Great choice Eddy, I love Caterham`s and their ilk but my arse is a bit big for them now. I reckon you should be made to carry a weight penalty (perhaps Stuart as a passenger) like everyone else on Auto-tests. Really though I hope the new car performs as well as it looks good luck to you and the co-owner
