a spot of welding to do the with the roof ;-)

looks like you had a laugh which is the main thing anyway. car looks nice ...

Rivets are easy with a bit of mastic to keep rain out and filler in the heads of the rivets afterwards.

Welding can be difficult as the roof skin is generally thin and tends to change shape with the heat, from my experience.

Good advice that^ :)
I've done both versions a few times and by far my preferred version was the riveted one. Having said that MikeB used the OE panel and welded in panels/brackets underneath, then using mastic or similar to seal the gap. Neat, tidy and functional.
