Near fight - at work

To cut a long story short last night i was faced with a member of staff from another part of the company shouting abuse at me. His coleague came over to me and politely asked what the problem was, when i explained it to him he got on his phone to his supervisor to inform him of what was going on. Whilst I was on the phone with his supervisor the first guy starts shouting and swearing at me, then he starts coming towards me shouting and waving his arms.
My first reaction was to hand the phone back and go meet him half way, (I dont do flight). So there we were about a foot apart with him shouting 'who the fuck do you think you are.' To which i replied 'Get out you don't work here'. At this point he had closed up to about 2 inches apart and was saying, 'fuck you and fuck off' over and over again. He then bounced his chest into mine as if to start a fight, all this time he kept his left hand in his coat pocket.......and i know they use knives in there job.
His mate then came up behind me saying 'whats this going to solve'. I turned to him and as i did the first guy pushed my arm as if to turn me back around towards him, except i didn't turn, just looked round at him. At this point his mates phone started ringing and i assumed it was his supervisor, so whilst keeping an eye on him I held out my hand to his mate and said i want to speak to your supervisor. At this he started backing off but continued shouting abuse.

At one point I found myself thinking, this is actually going to happen....






My first instinct was to 'Rip his head off, shit down his neck and use his tongue to wipe my arse.'

Thankfully I can think in a crisis and dont just react...........and breath.

Well done Pablo to raise your hands in the work place is to invite unemployment but you must get the situation resolved otherwise you can never relax and get on with your job.

Well done mate, to see that level of aggression and potential for imminent violence, to remain calm and measured, is a testament to your bottle and clear thinking.
Those that CAN fight, rarely have to.
Harry's right though, there's a time and a place, and giving some twat a wallop at work won't end well for either of you. (Having said that, your right to defend yourself can't be eroded, if you perceive a threat is "in coming", you have some protection in law to defend your self. Does nt mean they can't sack both of you for inappropriate behaviour)

I wrote out my report this morning for work and this afternoon I made a statement to the police.

I have to be honest, this sort of thing is a very regular occurrence in my trade, and it never gets easier to deal with. Sooner or later you stand a chance of getting cut or thumped.
