Car value/help please?

Post by russ979 »

I need some sensible help here please folks?:) My mum has made her mind up that she`s not getting any younger and wants to get her retirement sorted out. So this means that she`s now looking to sell her beloved skyline.
Now i know its not worth a great deal of gold being the wrong model etc. But it must have some value, just what that is i don`t know? And would it be worth more broken up? - I don`t have the time to do it, but if it means she gets more pennies in her pocket then its an avenue we might have to look at?
Basically its a 1994 (Lreg) R33 2.5 gts 4door auto. Dark met grey in colour. It is totally bog standard bar a kenwood cd player. She`s own it for 11years, It was off the road for three and a half years parked in her garage until last summer when it sailed through its m.o.t again. I think being stood up was its downfall as now it seems the box has started to slip(Although its been off the road again since the end of october as it was never used in winter anyway) No one has looked at it so i have no idea whats going on? It does also have the starting of some rust bubbles on the rear arches. That said the engine though is soo...sweet and still holds up to the old stand a pound coin on the block trick. Its taxed and tested till mid july and has done about 120k (About 70,000miles?)
Any help or ideas as to what she can do with it? (no piss taking please;))
Cheers
Russ.

Unfortunately Russ, as you say it is the "wrong model" but there are still some people out there that like them. I would say that the value is decided by wether or not there are any of these people looking for one at the time you are selling (as with most things)

I would not be so bold as to try and put a figure on it myself but you could try such forums as skyline owners club and the like to see if anyone on there would be able to give you a rough idea of what to sell it for.

As far as breaking it goes I am sure you would be able to sell a few bits as I would assume that some things will fit the Gts-t or maybe even the Gtr but I would think that those parts would be limited.

Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.
I may be getting older but I REFUSE to grow up :D
