now i know i may get a few pi55 take comments fron some people about having/building a train set layout but you know you all have one some were:sifone:
bit of history to start with, ive been into trains since i was a little kid and yes ive done the old train spotting thing upto when i was 14, my family are ether train enthusiasts or work on the railway them selves so ive been around it all my life.
started collecting trains for last 20 years or so and i did a valuation of my collection couple weeks back and i have around
train layout project
Oh Lucky Lucky man, I love trains too apart from comuting from KL to KX daily for the last 14 years (uptil June 09) I have spent many hours drooling over steam engines at York and Bressingham and main claim to fame was a journey from London to Newcastle on the Flying Scotsman when I was a kid going on Holiday.
Forget selling and putting the money into the car you will only break it at some point, keep the train set it is a family heirloom

i recently converted a garage roof space that was 2 doubles so a fair old size for a guy to be his office and trainset, what he had planned was huge
its not really my thing but i know some people do put a lot of work and effort into their trainsets
your right though in saying most people have one, i have a fair size hornby set sitting in the loft that i had when i was a nipper, probably not been out the box for 25 years

Small one's are more juicy
I hate to say it but we used to have model railway as an activity when I was at school on a we'd arvo. It used to be quite a good laugh with mates (throwing plaster of paris at each other) but great seeing the layout, scenery etc emerging from a wooden board.
That was a long time ago but can still see the appeal.
Keep us posted mate, nice to see a very different project.

Do you ever sleep?
When do you get time for all this sh1t?
Unless you've unlocked the secret of the 36 hour day, I don't know how you have time to be involved in building a race car, collect half the world stock of Sierra spares, complete a days work and sort out a trainset the size of Somerset.
No wonder when it's JUST the car you get so much done. (Or you're sponsored by Red Bull

If you need something shooting, or a payload to low earth orbit. Just ask.

pablo ill sort the pics out and put it up mate.
harry-york musium is ace been there a rew times and like yourself love looking at some the old trains that used to rule the rails
TK- bet your going to find it this weekend and still see if it still works
RX7- i was a bit aprihensive about posting it on her but the comments have been good, ill keep it updated mate
rob- i have a problem of not being able to rest im always doing something or another, cars, scalextric and trains
dan ill keep updating as i go allong with loads pics.
last night i cut down my old 5ft by3ft section to 4ft by 3ft and layed the track out to make sure it fits snug

this is the design i have come up with, its just basic track layout

on way hpme popped into B&Q to get some this

its cheaper than buying all the gravel in packets and it gives the same effect and easier to use. it also cuts down a load of time.
