Managed to get the old girl going today, thanks to three cable ties :) (Red obviously as they are more powerful ;) )
It seems the throttle cable is quite sticky, this might have caused it (Seems odd the cable is as stiff as hell and the plastic broke all at the same time).
I checked into the recommended replacement part, and can you believe Ford want

Proof you can't keep a good Sierra down

If you stopped fucking about with that little gaylord Pinto, and shoved in something man-spec like a V8, I'm sure you wouldn't be afflicted like this. (Think they run on coal)

At least it was a nice cheap and straight forward fix. Cheap, straight forward cars that do what they say on the tin?? Who would have thought it possible :D

Brilliant, thanks for that mate :)
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a dry Sunday so I can do the throttle body and cable- probably means it'll p!ss down and I'll do it anyway :)
The added bonus means I can tell people I've got some bits off a Time Attack car on the old girl:party:when the aerials on-frickin awesome
