I suppose my response is more what wouldn`t I buy

My short list of what I wouldn`t buy on a theoretical maximum 2k budget is

MR2 turbo (Ok but probably mullered or blinged)
Nissan 200sx S13 (Like these)
BMW E34 5 series (Probably a wreck at this price)
BMW E36 328 (Very tempting)
Porsche 944 (You are either very rich or your mind has been warped by golf ownership or totaly insane)

You know it has to be a rear driver much more fun than a modern front driver even at low speeds

Mattr34's missus had a CLK 320 Auto, nice car, very soft. He got shot when it was due a service/mot was going to cost mega bucks and rear arches were fucked :)

That still up for sale? :D And it's cheaper than it was too!!

Rear wheel drive is a must really, it should all be about fun rather than outright speed, but some kind of ability to get the arse out would be good.

MR2's with a turbo are achievable on budget, but not sure about running costs? (DAN?)

Supra's will be NA at that price point or it would see you in a nice enough mk3, but I'm not sure that is a good idea with 1980's Japanese metal

Yeah a road 328 will be a bit soft after a full blown track M3, but Les and Sasman are having huge fun in theirs so I'm not writing that off.

A MX-5 is just about OK size wise, if it's a mk1, especially if you use an Elise seat on the deck. Not sure that will be quick enough though and FI ones are more money than I want to spend, I think.

E34.........one again, Les loved his one and the 3.5's or 4.4's are pretty quick I think (4.4=286hp)

Or I could always see if a caged, coilovered V8 Sierra is still around :D

More browsing required I think.

Maybe the Porsche was stupid after all.....I have a soft spot for them, that could well be my wallet soon after buying one.

S13 ticks a lot of boxes and I'm not sure about an s14......thought that they were too dear in any kind of decent condition.

Thanks guys.

Mate, you'd give the house a stealth look if you could get away with it!
