Pinto power here we come
Had a bit of a touch today.
I've been bitching for a while about how heavy, slow and ponderous the steering is on my barge.
Problem is, it's not exactly easy to find power steering for a car they stopped making 21 years ago.
Luckily, I found a guy who has a low mileage system (30k) with all the bits for a bargain

Picked the seats up today (after removing them from the car- why do people think you can just rock up and do jobs like that? He had a "bad arm" so could nt do it!!)
They are dirty but in good nick, especially for a fiver
Also got the power steering kit, well pleased with that, as it's of a low mileage car, and will trasnform how the car feels to move out. Can't wait for a day off now to get it all done

Seats are in (Forgot how Sierra's are just like Fisher-Price cars) and it shows how bad the old ones were as these feel great (and believe me, these ARE NT great)
Tried to assist the frankly rubbish heater today by flushing the heater matrix. My rationale for this was the temp gauge always does the same thing, so is consistant. It always sits low down, gradually rising till the thermostat opens, at which point it is exactly half way. It then swings back down to the bottom 1/4, and then back to midway where it stays once fully warmed.
Today though, I flushed it both ways (naturally managed to squirt some down the side of the inlets and into the carpets - cock
) till the brown gunk came out, and then re-connected the matrix hoses and topped up the fluid.
It's barely any warmer, and the gauge behaved normally to start with, but on the test run went up to middle and down to 1/4 twice.
Have I dislodged some shit into the thermostat?
I plan to get another one, but it's not exactly straight forward getting Pinto bits on a Sunday.
(If I bugger this up, imagine the shit I can cause changing to power steering ROFL )
