On every occassion that the bores were honed we inspected them, sight and touch, yet found nothing. It's one of those things where there is no one to blame. If the block had not been bored then it wouldn't have failed or at least not at this point.

So we just have to suck it up and move forward.

It's just the embarrestment factor of it, having to explain it to you guys and the sponsors. We've got some guys from Liqui-Moly coming to see the car next week:redface:

I didn't think that anyone had donated the money on the basis that if you didn't compete, there would be refunds?

I can't imagine how you two must feel. I can't imagine how you muster up the motivation after getting so many set backs.

I also can't imagine a time where you wouldn't have the forum's full support with your efforts (financial or otherwise) My feeling was that I, and others, were happy to donate in a bid to get you guys to Time Attack. If that hasn't paid off, then that's just one of those things, and you have my deepest commiserations.

I hate to be defeatest but I'm not sure I'll bother going to TA if you're not there. Let me know eh? :)

Thanks guys, your support means so much to us:thumbs:

We will not be taking part in Time Attack on the 10th but were planning on coming over to catch up with any of you guys that might be going, just to show our ugly mugs and say hello.

It's hard to quit when there's two of you that both share the same goal / dream. We both come from sporting backgrounds and as such understand that sometimes you have to put a lot of work and effort into something if you want to succeed. Whenever I watch the BTCC i also find myself looking for the AMD Golf. A new team, prefessional set up and yet look at all the problems and failures they have had. If it can happen to a team like that.........

And as Alan said recently 'Our luck has to change soon'

Some decisions have loosley been made as to a way forward between Alan, Gordon and myself, but not without issues and complications.

The original plan for the engine was to build it in 3 stages.

Stage 1.
The bottom end was built to take the final power target, whilst the top end was built to get us to 350 bhp.

Stage 2.
Was originally planned for early next year and would consist of bolt on parts that wouldn't require opening up the engine.

Stage 3.
This was planned for the winter of 2011. At the same time as the service we would have work to the heads done, change the cams, plus a couple of other jobs to achieve our goal target. Including switching to a 200 block to open up more options for the future. (These are stronger than the 205's and all the high powered 450bhp+ cossie's run them).

So much for plans:banghead:

We basically had 3 options as to how we move forward.

1. Have the other 3 bores in this block sleeved
2. Get another 205 block and have that sleeved from the start.
3. Get a 200 block now.

Option 1 was binned the same day, so that left us options 2 & 3.

After talking to Gordon yesterday Alan phoned me for a 30 minute chat:cuss: The outline of which is that Gordon has come through with a seriously good offer that would see us rebuilding the engine in a 200 block.

It's not a done deal yet, but is looking highly likely that this will be the route we take. The down side is that it will mean that we won't be able to get the car out on track this year. Small price to pay really....

IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCEED..............Get a mate like Bart:bart:

Had a phone call yesterday from Alan, who was over working at Gordon's, saying that we now have a block. He said that Gordon had sent me an email and attached a picture of it.

Cool! Could it be a twisted bit of fate that a hallowed 200 block turns up and goes in at this stage?
