Oulton
Well, Oulton we had a slippy but fun day at Oulton on Saturday:

Travel up on the Friday night was on snowy roads once beyond Derby into Cheshire. The scoob 4wd and Federal RS-Rs handled the conditions just fine! On to Oulton in the morning and there was snow round the track and in the paddock, so we blagged a garage:

I was in the blue scoob, which some of you know, and my pal Stui was in the MX-5 which he's in the early stages of converting into a track car. Conditions were wet all day (salt on the track meant that it never properly dried out) and well slippy. First session out, on RS-Rs, and I was just starting to enjoy the slidyness when I caught up Stui. We went round Druids tight together when he hung the back end out big style ... I backed off and sure enough he swung round 180degrees off to the right and unfortunately kissed the barrier side-on (but no major harm done). That section stayed treacherous all day (oil, I think), with non-existent turn-in and immediate side-slip with any positive throttle. Rest of circuit was great - with some lock on the centre diff and well-timed braking there was sharp turn-in, decent grip mid corner and lovely contollable oversteer on the exit. After first session I switched from RS-Rs to some RE070s which I wanted to use-up, which turned out to have a little less outright grip but were nicely progressive whilst sliding. The day was a great lesson in steering the scoob on the throttle. I remained on softish damper settings all day and just tweaked tyre pressures and centre-diff settings, which seemed pretty much spot-on. The only things to come past were a quick Evo 6 on 888s, a tracked-up old 5-series (dunno which one, sorry!) and surprisingly a 230bhp Megane on Pilot Sports. This was the most entertaining thing to watch, with the driver sawing wildly at the wheel everywhere, but wasn't actually that fast:

All in all, a top day. Now then, who fancies doing Anglesey track on 30th Jan for just
