Holy shit. Insane spec and probably the most thoroughly modified Z32 I've seen in the UK.
I did a bit of work on Monster's one and some of your mods are first rate, I love the rear hatch for starters :) Stock ones are ridiculous in weight! A few thoughts (I hope I cause no offence)

- I can't see any issues with your proposed camera vs. rear visibility thing. It would certainly kill several birds with one stone but you may need to check for mounting and vibrations as the rear end will obviously be shaking around a great deal.......not sure about how forgiving the camera is. (Not a criticism of the idea by the way)

- I am surprised that you're ditching the intercoolers and oil cooler for the brands you mention. If you swapped the twin coolers for a big single, I could understand. I do love the ARC's of this World but I never found any gains in performance over the British brands.

I'd be really interested to see the weight that this comes in at. Keep us posted mate.

More pics will follow, as soon as I get home, I promise

I've been toying with the fmic setup for a while now and have been working on various configurations to improve overall cooling on track

Since starting this project in it's current guise, the intention has always been to use the car for drift during the first year and then use it in Time Attack the following year.

It would be nice to get it to Bonneville for year 4 to contest the EBM/S class record held by Jun/Blitz since '91, but that's way, way off and things may change drastically in that time.

HKS and GREDDY would appear to be the most obvious choice for top quality parts, however I have been in discussions with ETS in the States who have developed a very impressive intercooler system that is engineered in house.

Maybe not as high profile a name as HKS or GREDDY but if the stats stand up then the ETS system may prove to be a winner.

The rear view camera idea was just a thought that I had considered.

Vibration and environmental testing isn't an issue as I build the cameras myself.

I've put them through far, far worse and they're still going strong

I'd just like to say; without blowing smoke, that this forum is a credit to it's members

No BS, just honest oppinions voiced by informed individuals

Like I said, no smoke, but if Carlsberg made forums.............:cheers2:

nice project :coolgleamA: i have run a rear facing bullet cam in the boot lock hole on my bmw and it gave a good view of who was behind me :D although it was supposed to be water proof but seems to have got some moisture in it somehow so it is probably fooked now :frown: keep up the good work .

Bonneville?! Fuck me............

I had no idea the Zed was a car that was still being developed to this extent in the UK. I know that several Japanese firms remain loyal to them, Cruze/Power's Factory etc, but I honestly hadn't seen anything here that was more highly developed than Christian's for track work.

Hats off to you. In terms of the forum, it's simply the result of mixing lots of people from lots of different backgrounds with a shared desire to go fast. It's nice to have some new blood on board to stimulate interest, so if you know of any like minded people that don't use us already, point them this way

Generally speaking, I've found that a lot of the more expensive off the shelf bullet and board cameras, supplied by certain companies in the UK aren't actually as high a spec as they would like you to believe.

To be fair, that's generally how the industry works as a whole (ie. the actual stated spec of the camera doesn't tie in with the reality)

Having said that, if a camera has a good quality ICCD but poor IP rating (ie. waterproof, rugged etc), the IP rating can be improved pretty easily.

If moisture is getting inside, then that's obviously not good as it will over time damage the internals, but not an entirely lost cause.

Ref the Powers Factory Z32, I mentioned that one before to Christian.
It sits way up on my top 'Z' list

Haven't heard a lot about it over the last few years but I've got a couple of clips of it running in D1 along with a few others

All I know is it's a 1991 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo run in Time Attack by Unique Auto Sports and produces approx 576 rwhp

I've chatted with John Penlington from UA on a few occassions and he's offered up some interesting advice on my build

Yeah (don't know how to quote being a bit of a forum retard as remarked on before by certain people who will remain nameless - Stu :cheers2: ) but agree with all of the above basically.

It's a top build pez and as stu said, mine was pretty sorted engine/chassis wise but my next step was where you've already started with the weight, I'd only started looking at carbon boots/fibre glass doors etc etc

Looking forward to seein you on the track with her bud, as I'm sure you are :drool5:

oh, and glad you aren't getting the same stoopid comments on here as elsewhere, but then you and I have had those convo's

Cheers chief, yeah can't wait to get this build done and dusted now and get some rubber down on tarmac

You know what mate, not wanting to throw cliche's about but BP is genuinely like a breath of fresh air compared to the obvious.

I haven't come across a single, "watch Star Trek tonight, the Klingons make a comeback" post or "The postman drove over my cat, what should I do" etc.

I'm gonna' sit down for a few hours over the weekend and get that RX7 thread all squared and will forward you a copy, along with the mod's on here.

I haven't managed to do much over the last few days apart from test fit the fuel cell and fit the SSQV's

Hopefully I'll get chance to do some more of the big jobs over the next week or so.

Priority now has to be 'windows' (and I'm going with the suggestion on here) and obviously the fuel/ignition system needs to all be plumbed in.

Fingers crossed, I should get the 'Z' fired up in the next few weeks

That in itself will clear away some of the doom and gloom that I'm feeling at the mo'

Cheers all for the support on this build

and just a quick plug for 'MONSTER', I got some top used parts off him recently and the useful no BS tips for this build just keep coming, so definately a few pints owed there

more pics to follow shortly

Get your arse down to Snett on the 10th then; the evening trackday and meet will see about 12-15 of us pratting around on the track (4pm-8pm really) and then the social meet as well (up until maybe 9.30pm?)

I appreciate that it's a long slog from Herefordcestershire but it should be a giggle
