I think that several of us are showing the frustration of a slow start to the events season....a couple of events in January and February for me and that's it. Pretty piss poor by my normal standards but having the right tool for the right job, helps.

Short term must be to get the cars reliable and usable. Medium term (around a year for me) I'll know whether I'll keep the Golf and what I want to do with it.

Seat time is always the singular thing that makes these cars worth the ball ache, in my opinion.

Yes there's no doubt about the box getting changed, it's sitting in my garage waiting to be bolted on :D But cheers Al, good advice mate.

Rx7's are fantastic Dan - but ask Gareth about all the work you have to do to keep cool for trackdays ... piles of pennies with v-mounted intercoolers etc etc ... they are cheap as chips but hardwork!.

And to be honest - they are for small people only! .. I can't fit properly in one and I'm only 6 foot.

Right so after nearly 6 weeks of not being able to drive the car, things have really picked up :D

two days ago i was planning on doing an early morning run up to Eddys, so i had to get some charge back in the battery and fill up on fuel. After successfully doing this and was within spitting distance of work (literally 50 meters away) the gearbox finally collapsed loosing all drive in all gears with oil dripping out. So called out Mr.AA to see if i can get it towed away and yes they were going to take me to eddys but they said that it would be another 3-4 hours before a truck would come and get it and the garage would be shut. :/

So instead i opted to just be taken home;

Tomorrow with the assistance of Rob_b the MR2 will be dropped off to Eddys to have the gearbox swapped over and a new shiny braided clutch line fitted. :hurray:

edit: also the aa bloke reckons that it's the diff thats collapsed, so it'll be interesting to find out what it is :)

Yes, and here it is on the ramp already.

Managed to crack the clutch line connector that was siezed before without damaging the hard brake pipe.

Gearbox change/new oil clutch line will be done next week.
