Voted and i feel very strongly about doing so. - This hung parliament business is interesting though..

What gets me is those people that don't vote and then winge about government after or just continue to believe there is no hope so they don't bother, or those that refuse to vote out of spite, as its these people that are just letting the country run its own course of disaster, as always it is their prerogative to whatever they want though.

Whoever is in power will still have some direct input into your life, and I for one want to support the ones that will affect me in a positive way.

Norwich South only had some 47,000 people vote, which is appalling I think and it went to the Lib Dems with 310 votes separating it between them and Labour.



Haven't seen anything happen with Norwich North yet.

Not voted, and nothing to do with slacking either. My partner voted because she wanted to and i took her.

Todays politicians are all bloody hopeless, something clearly demonstrated by the current state of our economy and the worst recession in living memory.

Ask those poor sods that have lost their jobs and their homes if they're all that bothered about voting for more of the same.

Not voting is a protest vote in itself for none of the above!! When they start improving things I'll genuinely start thinking about voting.

I don't get that logic at all Francis. I suffered quite heavily with the recession (somewhere in excess of 300k) and feel that the financial troubles lay in a number of areas, not just this or any previous UK government. To abstain from voting as a protest is bizarre.

Maybe you should petition for the option of voting for no confidence, as that option may have actually garnished some real results, but to decline to vote altogether can only be measured as apathy (in my opinion.)

As James said earlier, such a poor turnout for elections is the very thing that will mean that the nations feelings are not accurately measured. How on Earth can the election be representative of the country's feelings when over a half of people eligible don't bother to do so?

The nations apathy is getting worse. Look at petrol prices as an example;

i think it is a case of not whether they are "trustworthy etc" but who is most likely to grasp the nettle and address the most important issue we have at the moment in this country it's national debt which with all due respect required a vote from everybody.

As far as e-petitioning is concerned, I've signed all the most popular e-petitions that have been launched including the biggest of them all by far, the call for governement to scrap planned proposals for the road pricing scheme, which surprised not only the population but government most of all by attracting over 1.8 million e-signatures from a populace of 60 million people.

Not one iota of change has been brought about by any e-petition despite popular concensus, and worst of all, road pricing is still going ahead regardless of what we want.

Over 560,000 voted for BNP
Over 170,000 voted for Sinn Fein
+6 million voted for Lib Dem's
+8 million voted for Labour
+10 million voted for Conservatives

Just under 30 million people voted in all. I haven't looked for the number of people at voting age in the UK, but it's a good bet that you can say that it's more than a few.
