Performance Friction pads fell to bits

Post by scoobaru »

My brakes started to groan a bit and rub as i pulled away after braking so today i had a look to see what was wrong and found this

they are performance friction pads been on less than a year with 4 trackdays. The pad has a lot of meat left on it but came away from the backing plate and broke in two.

Anyone ever had this before? I'm a bit peed off

Had Performance Friction on my old GTR and used them very heavily; never saw anything like yours before; have you taken this up with them? It may be a better form of recourse than a forum.

have had that happen with various manufacturers over the years but only generally when there is another issue.............
to de-laminate it has uaually been massively over-heated and could be caused by a number of factors including wrong compound choice for temps achieved, over-heated by seized/sticky calipers, over-loaded due to opposite axle under performing, etc.............

what exact car, set-up, compound???
