Grace. SOLD
Some interior bits. Swanky 8 ball gearknob from Tk DubGuru and some lovely black leather with red stitching.

I know I should have hoovered and cleaned it, but who gives a monkeys
Trial fitting of the single lamp grille, with a sneaky air box feed fresh from a Golf championship car

Not entirely happy with the fit, finish or look...............apart from that it's fine. Fitted a new headlamp too, as the stock lights were laughable; even worse when only one of them is working
Bought some new G60 top mounts (so dull no photos were necessary)
Gratuitous G60 arch shot

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh....................Trev........you should have taken them off before I collected Grace
But I'm so glad that you didn't
Now I've done a few miles with Grace, my thoughts about the car are starting to settle;
Bloody good fun to drive and certainly something of a keeper. The gearbox is about as good as you can expect from an 020 model. I think I'll be spending some money on this set up, for a more snick-snick gearshift

The brakes are....average. Will be upgrading to Hawk pads once a few more important things are sorted along with proper fluid and some braided lines.
The steering is soooooooooo heavy. I'm not sure it's even 'right' to be honest. I am currently doing some research into retro fitting a power set up from another mk2 or even (gulp) an electric system from something like a Corsa or Saxo. No rush, but certainly to be looked at.
The aesthetics will be staying pretty much as they are. No time or real money to dick around with that when there's issues suspension & tyres to sort out.
More details on those two matters later.

Car looks good, I like the 8 ball. Ben was talking about G60 stuff also.
Are you tracking this car mate or is it a show and shine car ?

Daily duties, the odd event too. 100% not show and shine. Far too tatty for that; these VW boys seriously know how to turn cars out.......absolutely no way that mine will be pointed in the show and shine direction, paradoxically, I hope it can end up looking quite smart. Focused and functional is the aim, whilst displaying a degree of style
Oh yeah, I forgot. The 8v radiator is a lot bigger than a 16v one so they'll be swapped. Putting on a new water and oil pump to with a baffled sump. This may sound like a lot of work, but all of the bits are quite cheap, so I may as well.

After reading Fil's Mustang thread and matey's Ultimate Garage thread, I feel like a mug posting this, but I am a post whore too so that wins!
The bonnet and rust patch by the sill have been repaired (sort of) but I couldn't get a good colour match on the bonnet, so matter what I tried. You know what that means?
Respray!!
I was very well behaved....ok, I bottled it. It was that close to being NATO'd but I thought better of it/couldn't be bothered/didn't want to get divorced (take your pick)
Pics

Tarted up one of the grilles I have and think I'll settle for this 'look' for now, reverting to the twin set up when the nights draw in again.

To give you an idea of running height

I have a fair amount of stuff either on its way with couriers or piled up, ready to fit. My big dilemma at the moment is whether to fit the Corbeau seat and harnesses.....that will mean a bit of welding and floor pan butchery, not to mention going back on my word about mods. The pro's are significant in that I'll gain a connected feeling with the chassis, more comfort and support, more headroom for crash hats/trackdays etc etc
Next weeks update should have a few bits of interest beyond rattle cans
