Post by blacky »

Last year we had a keen group of Sprinters on the forum, now it seems most of you have given up/thrown in the towel:(

How come?

Answers as follows
1) Bored
2) Fed up with airfields
3) Betty wasn't suitable, Grace won't be competitive
4) Health
5) Lifestyle balance
6) Geographical location means less tracks and more chopped up concrete around these parts
7) Bored (repeat)

Sorry mate. Hope that helps :)

I`ve not given up or thrown in the towel yet. I will be back ( to make up the numbers:)) When my healths better. I am a bit worried that without Tk to banter with things will be a boring as a class win for me was never on the cards!:)

Definitely not giving up, just being selective on events. I don't have the funds that I used to have. Next event for me will be the Abingdon Car-nival, so long as the engine is sorted by then.

I must admit to losing interest a bit. Money is an issue as a full seasons finances can work out to be quite expensive and that's if the car (whatever it is) holds together.

One big attraction was the social side and having a good laugh but there are fewer and fewer familiar faces now that the hardcore of recent years are off the scene. There's Stu's pic of a couple of years ago at Debden. We're sat around during the lunch break having a good laugh in the sunshine. Stu, Trev, Andy, Logan, Dick, me. Where were you all on Sunday? Logan asks the question but is off doing other things with the MLR.

This years change of regs. has made a bit of a half arsed mockery with fire proof helmets, gloves, List 1B tyres not requiring roll cages, etc. Half the road classes turn up on trailers which really isn't the ethos of this level of motorsport.

Now, just as some are talking about buying Golfs to have a bit of competitive fun, on a (sort of) level playing field, they're now looking at a Golf race series. I can now see myself buying an otherwise, uncompetitive Golf and still being one of a very few to show up at a sprint or track day.

:(

Ive not given up completely this year just so much happening, the misses had her car wrote of the other week (luckily her run around and not the clio). Had my first Kart race last weekend, and now sorting things out for my Ring trip. The biggest show stopper was work, this one is now luckily resolved so hope to be back out there later in the season.
