ha - yes, Rob, I do actually own tools :). I need to fit some extra bars onto the existing mounting points so I can fit the seat using sparco seat mounts thus increasing the height - currently it's had too many different holes drilled due to multiple seat sets up to be able to put any more holes in :)

Look at the state of his gear lever surround? Looks like a sample of leather from DFS :)

It's too big Ben, trim it down for less weight!

So what can I say apart from I really rather impressed with the Golf - firstly for being owned by Stu, Lee and Jason plus obviously me, being thrashed around race tracks and airfields without any complaints - a prime example was opening the bonnet after 20minutes of constant abuse and not seeing any issues, hearing any issues, hearing it make all the right noises and most of all not breaking - outstanding - Ok I've now got a teeny weeny leak from one of the hoses - but that doesn't count!.

So the golf has now found a place in my heart, I went to marham expecting to be disappointed by the lack of power and was pleasently surprised at how much fun can be had and actually how quick it is through the bendy stuff. Also seeing how much Gareth enjoyed it was a great feeling and made it a pleasure to share the drive.

The suspension is spot on, the tyres however let it down (Rob get me some R888's :) ) - Marham means that the car is now going to be fettled and sympathetically repaired.

My plan is to prepare it so that if I decided too I can enter the Gti championship - Regulation cage will be ordered shortly, looking at a complete new engine (to the championship spec) - poly bush the whole set up - race exhaust. Wheels will be Team Dynamics in black. Paint work ... you'll have to wait and see.

Now the hardest decision is whether or not to return it to the small bumper set up as it's currently half and half ..

Going to strip back the interior further, removing seats etc so I can clean up firstly the sugar (thanks hattie) and other assorted strange stains, stickyness etc .. repaint the inside, remove remaining carpet. Replace wiper blades, replace rear wiper, replace heater blower, remove the DVD player (thanks lee - lol), remove speakers.

I can't wait to 'play' with the other VeeDub boys ...

Ha ha!!
I thought you would like that link ;)
Have to say that I'm pleased mate. These Golf things are so impressive in the way that they offer fun and durability for the sort of money that doesn't really get you much at all these days.

Interesting to hear about the racing. Maybe a few of us should make a trip to watch them compete before too long?

Pike
Andy Warnes
Martyn Brown

All part of the club and all racing in the series. Would be rude not to go and offer some support
