Having decided the way forward for me for the forseeable is to hang on to the old Golf, I'm embarking on a wee bit of improvements in day to day stuff.

I'm beginning with sound proofing, as there is NONE under the back seat or the boor floor, and I'm a long in the tooth to have the need for so much amibent noise. (On a practical note, I spend ages in the car each day, and taking calls and what not get difficult at speed) Once the stuff has arrived I'll update with pictures. I'm not worried about adding weight, the power to weight ratio is pretty much screwed when I get in anyway! :)
After this it will be re-furbing the weels and the bonnet paint work, and other titifying, while I save for the engine works.

Cars, you just can't stop fiddling!

With all the Golfs on here now there must be all the excess interior you could need. You may save Mike B the cost of a skip if you hurry :D

I also like a few comforts in my car. A word of advice don't go for a drive with Al in his gt, quite it's not and the boy has the heater on so it sucks the moisture out of your eyes.

I agree Pablo. After recent trips in a few mkII's and owning my own stripped version a couple of years ago, Grace will be staying largely standard interior wise for the foreseeable future. Having missed a heater and anything to reduce ambient noise in previous ones, I think I'll make do with the compromises they bring in added weight :)

Surely there's an argument for your principle use defining what you do to the car? 95% road and 5% track for me, and that's the reflection you'll see in the preparation of the car.

Yep, my is like driving a washing machine full of bolts ... but you do get used to it - if I want quiet, I just jump in the GTR ..

How perverse is that?:)
If you want quiet and refined, you'll jump in your 430bhp GTR.

I do take your point though and your usage justifies the way your Golf is set up.
