Interesting Race Cars Testing At Snetterton Thread

Post by Safety_James »

Rather than start a new thread every 4 days, I'll update this thread with images of unusual/exciting cars that we are having throughout the season so some others can appreciate them also..

Ill start the thread off with a lovely example of the new 2010 Boss Ford Mustang FIA GT3 car.. Incredible noise. Testing here today (31/3/2010) and tomorrow...

Interesting - is that big gap on the passenger door by design or a poor fit?.

Thats aerodynamics Ben ;) It allows air to flow through the wheel arch and have a smooth passage down the side of the car

It was pointed out to the team earlier this morning, they hadn't ever noticed it doing that, but now is clamped shut, not going to help with the drag at all. Similar problems with doors are found on the Ginetta G50's. Poor design fit really, the doors are made of Kevlar-Carbon so shouldn't really do that.

Also if you look closely the perspex windscreen which is duck-taped on around the top and riveted down the side, flexes in the middle under load, which isn't great either, we've got a nice high res shot somewhere i will dig out to show it.
