my new mk2 golf fetish

Post by Tk »

as a couple of you know i recently bought a G reg mk2 golf gti 16v in black in need of some work (non runner) put a set of leads on her and she was away and sounds/drives all ok with no smoke but heater matrix has a leak, bad earth so git to turn over and rear pads non existent , bought all the bits to get her going but my time lately has been on the pulsar due to sprint season upon us ,its very low and has a jetex full system, port and polished head.
here it is after picking it up with hideous 17" wheels

i then tried some of the wheels i have in my hideaway
comp mo's

mim 1900's

but now the fate of this car is uncertain as on saturday i bought this little beauty , another big bumper 16v mk2 gti with koni suspension stainless scorpion exhaust , looking at history it has also had port work and a few other bits

so now i have a lovely pair :D

and today has been spent giving the new one a look over, changed a chipped headlight ,wash and bumper/trim cleaning with a heat gun and other stuff like making a start on splitting these bad boys
bbs rs 3 peice split rims
Image

30 nuts and bolts in every wheel and a real hassle to split them which ended up with a bit of heat and a big rubber mallett
Image
i purchased some new outer dishes that had arrived and managed to build up a pair this afternoon
smaller dish for the fronts
Image
and a slightly larger one for the rear

They are awesome mate; love the single lamp conversion too. Two fine cars and some lovely options for you in the next few months.

Lucky sod :)

its a possible rob but im also thinking about breaking it , the h reg one is the better car body wise and has pas/tax/mot etc.. but does smoke a bit which im 99% sure is valve stem seals , i tried the g reg one (on a private road) and it feels pretty swift compared to the other so tempted to rob its engine and a few other bits like g60 arches

As you can do it yourself, you'd be mad not to go down that route.
I look forward to being passed by you on a track in the MK2 (Oh how the golf purists will love that!!)
Are you going to strip it, or keep it standard ish inside?

And every time he sees me he takes a deep breath and says 'I know I shouldn't but......' and explains how he just couldn't help himself :D
