If they start too much shit mate, start waving the constructive dismissal card around. They will shut the fuck up pretty damned quick then

Best of luck, your health comes first and you have to remember that. Get yourself sorted out first and foremost and hopefully the job/car and other bits will be fine anyway. You can always get another job or car. You can't get another spine.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes, it's the big day tomorrow and should be out by Friday

now I just have to look forward to 24hrs on a morphine drip!

Well, so far so good! The operation was a sucess, so far the main pain has gone and it's just discomfort from the wound and a little shakey when walking (can only walk 20odd yards ATM) and if everything carries on as it is then I'll be home tomorrow!
