Thanks guys! To be honest, if I had actually sat down and worked things out, I probably wouldn't have done it.... but where's the fun in that? :D

It's not going to be running the 350bhp that Christian had- we're aiming for a 'comfortable' high-200's with a GT28.

And the tin-worm is another hurdle to overcome. I need to ensure the front-end won't leave me behind the first time I floor it, pmsl. :smash:

I really need to start on a few things before I swap the engines over.

Firstly, corrosion :banghead:. Hopefully this will be tackled in the next month or two (with some help :grouphug:)- anyone got any recommendations for suppliers of replacement body/repair panels?

Both sills desperately need attention-

A while ago I noticed this damage to the rear floorpan where it appears to have been jacked-up (it wasn't me, and definately not APT)-

It's punched right-through the floor so I've tried to cover it as a temporary measure for now, but it's another kick in the nuts. :cuss:

And finally, rear floor pan again, the rear mounting point for the passenger seat is getting weak and will really need sorting-

....Otherwise I'll need a sign saying "No fat chicks" :smilielol5:

Like I said, any recommendations for new panels? :)

Cheers mate- I've sent off for a quote on what I think I'll need.

Have you used them before, and are they decent quality?

Thanks again!

Brill- I'll get that lot ordered then! I'm aiming to start stripping the interior asap to ensure there's nothing else to patch-up before I can start fitting the engine. :smash:

Ahh... the engine- the next hurdle.

First a quick Ford lesson. Escort RS' ran Bosch K-jet management (known as MFI) and injectors which fired into the inlet manifold slightly upstream from the head (which had nice round ports). Later XR's (like mine) and Fiesta RS' ran Ford's EFI management and 'normal' injectors. The problem comes in the changes Ford made- the EFI injectors sit right next to the manifold flange, which means the ports in the EFI heads were enlarged to accomodate them, as you can see-

MFI head like Christian's-

EFI head like mine-

As you can see, bolting my EFI inlet manifold onto the MFI head leads to the injectors firing at a block of ally. :banghead:

There's two options that allow me to still utilize my manifold:

1. Modify the head ports to match- problems are weakening the head and removing the mating face for the gasket, and the fact that the engine is already built which makes opening up the ports without getting filings down the bores tricky.

2. Buying/creating an adaptor plate- the conversion has been done before and adaptors exist, it's that they want

to be honest mate i would buy the adaptor plate, as you said dont want to put week points in the engine.

what you need to ask yourself IF you file it down and you blow the engine how much/time is that going to cost?

just my 2pence worth mate
