I'm seeing this way too often lately!

Post by Jon »

I MOT a huge amount of cars, But sadly this attitude is becoming the norm...

NSF spring broken

OSF spring broken

NSF caliper bolt sheered off and missing

OSR tyre ready to blow

On top of this, both rear chassis rails were almost non existent due to corrosion, two of the tyres/wheels were the wrong size, the NSR wheel cylinder had lost the majority of the cars brake fluid etc etc etc
I abandoned the test after 10 minutes as the car obviously wasn't fit to be driven.
When i presented the facts to the young lady driver she shrugged her shoulders, said she couldn't afford the repairs then packed her two toddlers into the car and then drove off.
I did try my best to educate her about the seriousness of continuing to drive her car, But either through mechanical ignorance of just sheer stupidity she plainly just didn't give a fuck!
It makes me shiver to think that she is still driving that car around without a thought to herself, Her kids and other road users.
Sorry for the pointless post, But it really gets on my tits that I'm seeing this way too often :frown:

You guys should have VOSA style powers to impound the cars; to protect people from their own stupidty.

Good post mate. Hopefully a lesson to be learned there.

i'm with you jon you should be given the power to issue an instant certificate of unroadworthyness and impound or crush the vehicle end of.i don't really give a rats arse that they have no care for themselves but the ramifications of killing innocent people when the car fails is almost premeditated murder ffs.
if you cannot afford to maintain and run a car to a safe standard get a bus or walk.:seeya:

We should have the power to "shoot on sight" any moron knowingly driving a car that has been passed unroadworthy! Sadly though that isn't ever going to happen.
Personally i couldn't give a fuck if these imbeciles choose to cleanse themselves from the gene pool, But when they cause untold carnage to others through their own ignorance then that's a different matter.
Apologies for the extended rant, But when you see this shit day in and day out then it really starts to irritate.

It's funny, people say I hope my car passes the mot - purely for legality - not for the fact it means my car is safe!....

I think people who are that way inclined would avoid MOTs all together if they new they could "lose" their car. If they are currently happy to pay

you require a current mot to tax a car so i am presuming this will then be run without any tax aswell:headhack:

Good post.

What concerns me is these are the people driving on the roads around you and your car... It makes you wonder, because at any time through negligence any of these cars could cause a severe accident and possibly injury you or your loved ones.

things like this proper pee me off as the gov is more interested in my emissions than the fact that the rest of the car is properly maintained. A copper would be more interested in my door numbers (which are legal) than pulling over a shed like that. Does my nut in that performance car drivers are targeted and sheds like that just ride along unnoticed.rant over
