I should have updated this the other day, But project 182 and i had a falling out on saturday when in my rush to get it ready to bring it to the meet on sunday i discovered a leaking driveshaft to gearbox oil seal, something i find quite common when the driveshaft has been replaced ( like this one had at some point in the past) But the little sod would not re-seal so a new gaitor is on order. Anyway back to the paint.......

This photo is of the first light base coat, But does not do justice to just how much red is in this pearl black.
Image
Several base coats and three heavy clear coat later......... I have a shiny black wing, but due to less than perfect conditions i have a wing covered in "foreign bodies" So...
Image
This is where i should have blocked back with 1200 grit, but due to the size of the lumps in my paint i lightly used a worn peice of 400 grit and spent a quite considerable amount of time with the G3 rubbing compound and my trusty mop to end up with a wing like this..

Again the camera on my phone does not do it justice.

Thank you Jase:)
I should have added that if anybody wants to have ago D.I.Y stylee, then a good tip is when spraying a mettallic or pearl the panel should be sprayed in the position as fitted on the car ie; if doing a wing or door then it should be painted upright not laying flat ( or your colour wont lay right) And when painting a wing for a "no tell" match the leading edge of the door should be blown in rather than going edge to edge as i have ( i will have to paint the door as it is a shade out and has a ruddy great scratch in it)

The last week or so not much has been done on the clio. But i have managed to sort some of the driving issues!:)
First the engine was contacting the anti roll bar when it was being gunned.
So a powerflex dog bone bush was purchased.
Image
It was a total "twat" to fit and i did swear at it lots!
Image
The second thing that was getting on my nerves was every time i braked the A.B.S was kicking in just before the car came to a stop. I thought this might be down to a cracked A.B.S ring, but when i checked them all out i found that an "odd" ring was on the nearside front ( the driveshaft i had been trying to get to seal to the gearbox!) Under a little investigation i discovered my 182 had a 172 driveshaft fitted!
Image
Can you spot the difference? The correct 182 shaft is on the left. Both shafts have 44 teeth on the rings, But look at the difference in width! Also the c.v`s are different and the 182 has a balance weight fitted. Bar the wheel alignment that should be the mechanical issues sorted?
The other job i managed last week was to M.O.T the scoob and it now has a little bit of clio fitted!:)
I always hated the big nasty looking aftermarket fog light, So i wanted something a little more discreet and did`nt want to do the painted reversing light route.................So used a clio high level brake light mounted straight bottom of the bumper.

Subtle but effective?
