Short S3 Stage 1 Project

Post by Rob_B »

Hi chaps,
as some of you may know i got rid of the rattle can that was my CRX SiR and replace it with a subtle little audi S3

Image

now I promised myself i wouldnt tinker with it to much, the car is an everyday car that i want to keep civilised

all i wanted to do was possibly 'stage 1' it:thumbs:

this is now all but complete as from today :)
  • KN Panel Filter
  • Forge re-circ DV(stronger then the limp bosch plastic one)
  • Jabba Motorsport Remap
The panel filter actually went in before crimbo, but i fitted the DV today and took a trip to see the guys at Jabba Motorsport.

I dont know if anyone has dealt with Jabba before? I was well impressed today, great bunch of people, extremely impressive work and superb prices

The car came in with 210bhp and left with just under 270bhp!!!:sifone: and on supermarket super unleaded too, was informed it would perform even better on Shell V power

obviously figures arent the be all and end all...its how it drives on the road..and what a difference, to say im chuffed and impressed is an understatement! its like driving a different car, it pulls hard all the way through the rev range be it half throttle or full throttle

below are a couple of pics, including the dyno print out, will scan it when i get a chance

the graph shows a small amount of wheel spin(due to my pants tyres) this is shown on the graph when the power dips(haldex is pushing the power to the rear) the technition assured me that with better rubber this will not happen and the graph would have been smoother, and on the road the power delivery will be even and constant...he wasn't wrong:thumbs:

the only other slight issue was that it blew a coil pack, the chaps at jabba were quick to replace it for me and explain to my why they are prone to failure

so all in all im over the moon!!

only other possible mods are
  • New alloys and tyres(probably RS4's or BBS CH's with decent tyres)
  • miltek exhaust

New Shoes

Post by Rob_B »

Quick up date to the project - new shiney rims with nice grippy tyres :)

went for the bbs ch 8x18 in silver rather then the black as i think it looks a lot more subtle which is the look im going for

tyre wise, well thank fcuk i got rid of those god awful tyres on the standard wheels!!! new tyres are a kuhmo ku31 ecsta spt, have heard very very good things about them especially when you consider the price

anyways apart from the wheels and tyres not much more has been done to the car, there is no need really as it runs like clock work and is a pleasure to drive day to day

new item on the list id a set of eibach springs to drop the car about 30mm

Tidy

Your old van is starting to look a bit worse buddy......spot of tin worm mate :(

The S3 will look so much better with a bit more aggression from a dropped ride height.
