Nice write up Gerry, you definitely are in safe hands with the boys at APT.

Looking forward to seeing this in the flesh.

Is there any better product than the Exedy? - I had an Exedy and it lasted no more than 2000 miles! - hated it - it started slipping within about 100 miles and gave in completely after ONE drag run and I was only running 336fwhp at the time.

I had an Exedy twin plate in the Impreza and it was superb. You wouldn't know there was anything different in there and it handled launches a treat.

I'd have one tomorrow if they weren't so flippin' expensive.

what kit did you have Murano?? sounds like an organic style which isn't really suited to drag use

Yes was one of the organic models - My Os-giken twin had failed (on a drag run - I'm not clutch friendly) and Abbey recommended the Exedy - cost something in the region of

Interestingly Ben doesnt mention the high number of drag launches from traffic lights in those 100 miles of first having the clutch ;)

Tried fitting some later wheels from ebay and decided the existing aftermarket suspension was knackered. Thanks to Lee for providing the measurements of his Evo's ride height at 340mm all round. I checked mine and found the following n/s/f 360mm; o/s/f 330mm; n/s/r 320mm and n/s/r 310. Not surprising that the rear arches were rubbing the tyre.

Phoned Apex Monday afternoon and a set of BCs were despatched by Parcel Force at 7:50 Tuesday I had these:

To replace this sort of thing:

I thought I'd do the fronts first as they probably would pose the bigger problem, if there were any. Fronts consisted of the two hub/strut bolts, three turret nuts, brake pipe & clip and the ABS sensor wire. Rears were simply two turret nuts and a single bolt that passed through the lower wishbone arm.

Fronts really were a piece of cake to fit and took very little time. If I'd had a decent kit and two post lift, instead of grovelling in the gravel with trolley jack and diy stuff, it would have been ten minutes a side.

Then it was the turn of the rears. Simple, removed the boot liners to reveal the turret tops

And it all went horribly wrong from there.

The bottom bolt on the o/s just will not budge. Access is limited on a trolley jack and despite loads of easing oil, nothing. I split two 6 sided impact sockets with the impact wrench and after that, I was stuffed as there was not enough space for leverage. It needs a bit of heat to get it moving.

I phoned all the places I normally try under such circumstances but all were too busy. I'm booked into the local 4 wheel alignment place tomorrow morning for them to fit the two rear struts and do the geo.

Cutting it all a bit fine with Cadwell booked on Thursday and travelling up to the digs tomorrow afternoon.

Looks like nice kit, remarkable for the money. It will be interesting to try and keep up with two of you guys, both with more power and BC equipped cars.
