Thats brilliant, did he not know what he had?
Either way I'm sure that will help no end with getting out of the slower corners better.
Nicely done!

Paint it NATO green Rob :) Go on...............

Nice to see the old E30 taking shape. I know how much you loved it in pretty much standard form so with these tweeks, it should be even better. When are you going to really strip the interior? There must be some more weight you can shed.

http://www.automac.co.uk/product/FG%20E30%20Panels If any of this floats your boat, I know and can try and secure you a reasonable discount. (Last stuff I had off him was - 20%) No guarantees in the current climate, but I'd be happy to ask what they'd cost for you ;)

Over a year without an update!!!

I haven't really done alot with the car in this time due to building work / Bike crash etc. but here is a little update.

I renewed the seals on the bargain lsd that I brought and gave it a coat of hammerite and some new oil this was then fitted to the car in preperation for the Opentrack Trackday at Snetterton on 14th April. The fan belt had streched so whilst i had the car apart i changed the waterpump and power steering belt and gave the old girl an oil service.

Whilst I was playing with the car I noticed an Antiroll bar bracket had broken so I had one made up at work (Handy having engineers on site!!) this was also fitted.

I also made up a couple of tow straps and attached them to the car ready for the trackday.

Firstly the new 300 curcuit is superb!!!!!

I can't believe how much better the track is now and the car handled superb after a little bit of adjustment in the morning to try to loose a bit of the understeer i was getting. The LSD has turned the car into a really superb tracktoy can't express how much better the car is now! The only thing letting it down now is the tyres I really must get some trackday tyres the Toyo T1R's just don't cut it anymore.

I was on track most of the day coming in to let the car cool down every now and again and it never missed a beat all day.
There have been a few complaints about the Caterhams on the day but to be honest they never really caused me any issues. I had a few fun tussles with various cars during the day and ended the day lapping with Eddy in his Metro and I was almost keeping up which i wouldn't of been able to do before the Lsd was fitted.

Where to from here?

New brake pads (Rears are down to the metal after Thurs!!!)
New Tyres
Cage

Nice update mate; sorry to prompt you, but I was eager :)

Apart from the ubiquitous R888's, you have loads of options, subject to your budget and supporting mods. Any idea which way you're going with that lot yet? (Slicks? do these mean you have to baffle the sump etc?)

Used R888's can be found on any of the race forums or you could even try some of the rally remoulds like I used to run. Heavy but tough as you like and cheaper than a night in Thetford :D
