Essentially there are suggested upper weight limits for users (i.e I'm too heavy for most) I need something that will be durable and comfortable to use. If you're interested, the Concept 2 is the sort of model I would want.
The firm that Jay used to buy his treadmill and, I think, bike are commercial gym suppliers. Great quality but reflected in the price.
