I was expecting some highly technical question about an engine build.

I think you might find that all the moisture from the adhesive will get drawn in to the blocks before you can stick the tiles on. Maybe coat the walls with something to seal it first, I painted my new plaster with watered down emulsion :)

its not ideal straight onto blocks but i have seen it done , they would have to be pretty bloody flat and sealed there is a few products you can use , unibond them (brush on watered down pva) or there is a a produdct that you paint on which i think is called gypbond but cant honestly remember at the moment,

but personally i would dryline the walls (stick plaster board with a bonding adhesive/sticking compound) and tile on that , its dead easy to do, better off using a moisture resistand board (which is green) but normal white is plenty good enough imo

if the other plaster/render is not to dead then you may get away with just bonding the bad areas and skim them

or hack the lot of and re render the walls with either sand/cement ,hardwall or bonding

if you need a hand i will help you out as im not overly busy at the moment for mates rates

Trevs work is top notch he plastered my bathroom and ceiling and made a excellent job of some nasty walls.

thanks for the advice trev i think i will go down the dryline route as i want to junk the bath and have a shower instead ,its one of those jobs which i have been putting off as i was going to knock it down to make way for an extension but that is not going to happen in the near future so a quick makeover is in order.i will gather the required materials and see how i get on ( you may well get a call)
