Opentrack @ Snetterton Sunday 17-01-10

I didn't take a single photo or video clip all day, sorry.

It was a great start to the year for me and those that joined me. Opentrack (Mr Royle and Mr Woodall, take a bow) ran another seamless day with a good briefing, good etiquette and the best all round track day package I know of. Ignore the price, today was quite simply ridiculous value, but instead focus on the value of the day........instruction, high quality photo's, refreshments; all free of charge? Where else do you get that?

I was delighted to give a few passenger laps (about 7 people I think) I hope you guys had fun, I know I did

I'm in a real dilemma now; what replaces a car that fast, fun, durable and forgiving for that sort of money?

Great driving from Rob S, Micared, MJP getting quicker and quicker (to the point where your brakes were on fire Matt) and a certain Banzai Trev proving uncatchable in the wet Nearly forgot Datsun Des! Had some great fun chasing him down and his 200 looked superb out there. Bloody planted around Coram.

A truly great day, so a big thanks to everyone.

Anyone impressed enough with the BM needs to look at the for sale thread later on. I have to accept that everything has its price.

That was undoubtedly the best trackday I've had the pleasure of being involved in.
The track was as slippery as hell at first, but once a dry line appeared i had the best fun in the world. Just awesome

Nice to put some names to faces today , you all looked like you were having loads of fun and we couldn't have asked for better weather at the beginning of January!

First time I have done Snetterton without driving, seemed a bit strange but had some excellent laps courtesey of Stuart and TK thoroughly enjoyed it and picked up some useful tips

A quality day from Opentrack yet again. Had a really good day today. Even the safety briefing was quick, informative and to the point... just what everyone wanted!

great day with great company as usual
the day did'nt start of to plan with no boooooost due to some sort of fuel cut! , the new exhaust has really screwed my car up so had to drop the boost right of to be safe, timing/fueling is all wrong i think so better to be safe than sorry
car felt fine in the corners just lacking that bit of power but all good fun
the damp conditions early on were a blast

Great day guys!:thumbs: Like Harry has said it was my first day there and driven! But many thanks to Stu and Trev for the great pax laps! The quality of driving from the bp boys was spot on. The only bonus with being there and not driving was i got some time to watch others at play, Des your laps were sooo consistent, every lap throught russell`s you were mm perfect to your lap before! ( was real interesting to see so many lines being taken by people through here) But a track highlight was seeing the sparks and flames coming from Matts n/s front wheel under very heavy braking and the end of rivets:eek: I`d heard of brakes getting so hot they catch fire, but had never witnessed it! Very well done everyone some good banter as always, thank you opentrack!

Well they do say all good things come to those who wait.
After a greasy, freezing morning, the edge was taken off the chill by the genuinely slick OpenTrack set up. Everything was in place smoothly and quickly allowing us to get out there without patronising or undue delay.
Having last driven the Golf backwards round Riches (I think) I was a little sceptical about the Golf's abilities. After all, it's done 146K, and been the previous steer of a screaming Lord Stu, destroyer of rubber and fearless late braker.
I was a little impressed to say the least, when I completed the sighting laps without crashing or falling over.
Then after what seemed to be an eternity, I got the 888's on, and started playing a little harder with the bends, and the old girl did quite well indeed.
I really enjoyed having the space to try lines, and not being hassled by what feels like dozens of faster cars every time I got anywhere near a bend.
Apart from two noticeable exceptions, most of the driving was exemplary, and to be honest, they were probably only trying it on because of an assumption that an old slightly dubious car means a wally novice behind the wheel. (At least I know how close a 106 can get without hitting my along the start finish straight )
The day was topped off with my first two track day overtakes (small things please small minds).
Epic driving from Stuart, and the experience of a Mark 1 RS2000 at full chat with Russell means 2010 has started with a bang!
Hats off to Phil and Dave for ensuring those that did get involved had a fantastic day, I can't think of any reason why their days won't go from strength to strength once the Christmas choke hold has been released.

My little cars back brakes decided enough was enough on the way out of the car park, so I had the slightly terrifying 80 mile drive back with grinding brakes
I kept thinking they were going to lock up, so drove back soooooooooo slowly, but it got me home in one piece, so all in all, a bloody good outing

Rob your little golf was quite the revilation! I think i comented to Trev when we followed you round that it seemed to be going very well!
