Stressed

Post by pablo »

:banghead:As part of our new project and our plans for the Time Attack we had decided to try and gain additional sponsors. After a lot of hard work on one particular area and with one company, we had got to the stage where they wrote to me saying that they were very interested in supplying me with the parts I needed, subject to them taking certain measurements.
They were that interested that they even went to the autosport show on Thursday to visit the Time Attack stand. I spoke to him whist he was at the show and he said he would call me on Friday.

No phone call yet.............all sorts of things are going through my mind, have they jumped ship and gone with someone else.

Do i call him, or do i wait a bit longer:banghead:

You should have called him yesterday. If they are going to sponsor you then the sooner your lines of communication are established, the better. You need a definite yes or no to be able to move on and progress to the next stage of developement.

We're halfway through January

You're a race team. If he thinks you act slow.....................

I would say that trade shows are potential nightmares on two fronts

1) Some people forget to ring due to the volume of new stuff they have to deal with (enquiries, new products and new people)
2) Some people think it's more polite/reasonable to say what someone wants to hear rather than be straight.

Only you know how you two have got on so far. You're not daft, so go with your gut feeling and trust your instincts Pablo. Call the fella on Monday and explain that you're catching up with all of your race partners for 2010 after the show.

Best of luck mate. Reminds me of this.............

I knew about the prayer Gerry, doesn't mean I practice it :) (Would save myself a lot of grief if I did)

Cheers guys, i'll be ringing him monday morning. It's just nice to be able to get feedback / advice from others instead of just having a board meeting with myself.

Gerry...We are still ok time wise. We have a detailed plan of when things will be done and January is always a free month, getting over christmas, going back to work etc.

Stu...I know those words well but my favourite is "stand and stare".

I like this approach! A great angle for putting them on the spot, without seeming like you are desperate for their money!
Good luck!

Thanks for the kick up the arse guys:D. Finally managed to get hold of him today. There is still a lot of work to be done with e.mails, meetings etc and in total could take upto 2 months. Inspite of all this and the fact that it could still not happen we still feel that it is worth the effort. Alan will be re-designing the car to form part of our portfolio, to explain who we are, details of the car and what we believe we can offer them.

It's all good fun:D
