I have the tapes but the camera's knackered so I can't watch them or transfer to another medium.

Try to get a digital8 camera, that way you can transfer to PC easily and when you've done you can get digital8 tapes for higher quality.

Thanks but too late

I bought a Hi8 camera on ebay and have discovered the limitations when it comes to connecting to the pc.

At least I can now view what's on the old tapes and it was worth the effort.

No worries, if you need to get the footage on PC you can use something like a Pinnacle video transfer unit anyway, I think they're around
