well this time of year brings lots of donors... but even if you stick a stock ECU and an upgrade chip how much are you going to have saved over m3 bits?

Stage 3 - 310bhp
Standard engine & ECU + upgrade chip + 555cc Injectors + Z32 AFM + GT28RS Tubbie + Boost controller + Fabricated Engine Mounts + Fabricated Exhaust parts
And even then you'd be better off with something mapable like a Motec or PowerFC.
Its not expensive compared with eeking power out of N/A's I'd just be quite careful working out the costs first is all I'm saying

I'll ask the chap I know about some more specifics but he assured me it was all above board. Knowing how well the two E46 equipped E36's went, I can only imagine that it is the way that I will go when my current engine goes
I totally appreciate your thoughts Jason; I've often thought about the sort of power the GTR had but in something as pointy as the E36. Truth be told that just doesn't come cheap, no matter how deep your pockets are it's still a fair whack, and especially when these cars of ours (well Jason's, Rob's and mine) are all at the kind of budget end of the market.
250bhp per tonne can spin the 255mm R888's in second in the dry without trying too hard and easily in third if it's damp. I suppose the sensible thing to do, for me anyway, is to improve my own driving rather than add more of anything. Bet you life that I'll add more power if the old one does fail.
