Bloody NVQ's

Post by Stuart »

Like a mug, I'm sat in front of the telly (and laptop) trying to kick start my level three course in Drug & Alcohol work. To make matters worse, the framework of the course doesn't appear to have any reference information at all so I'm relying on the internet to gather my answers!!

What a total and utter pain in the arse

I could always say 'bollocks' but I really wanted to put a dent in the course, so this is a little disheartening. Has anyone else 'done' an NVQ without a unified body of reference?

Hi Stuart,

Let me just say now - don't go there. NVQs are BAD things. They are designed to confuse and alienate. I've done a level 2 and 4, ranting and raving my angry way through both of them. You will end up with shedloads of paper and find yourself discussing evidence and criteria at dinner parties. Is there no other way of achieving what you need? There must be a better way of starting the forthcoming new year. You will probably need counselling by Easter - good luck.

Liz

Every professional in my field of employment needs at least a level three within the next two years. The level three should be easy enough, it's just the complete lack of supporting reference information; surely this can't be the norm?

Counselling by Easter? I'll be delighted if I last that long :)

I done a level 4 NVQ and a level 3 VRQ in Waste managment. Was a pain in the arse to retrieve the evidence for these, but I found was worth the effort.

The company that I dealt with were called Serac and were from Holt. They might be able to point you in the right direction Stu.

So was there no 'set' reference point for these Steve? You just found the stuff you needed on Google........in many years of taking qualifications across lots of disciplines, I have never found a subject or qualification where you just wing it.

Random.

Yeah, to gain the evidence I was sent around different sites, then had to answer the set questions. We were given about 3 weeks for each level. I did get some good reference points from Google though.

But presumably, you were given a list of trusted reference sites to use?
