Training courses?

Post by chrislandy »

Does anyone have any experience or know of anywhere I can do a training course on composite materials lamination and/or design? - it doesn't really matter where in the country it is...

Thanks
Chris

May be worth PM'ing RPS13 as he's almost certainly done it or knows where it can be done.

Best of luck

Hi there, I work in Composites, on the design side. Can I ask exactly what your end goal is as that may influence the type of course you should do.

Ie, do you want to just learn to laminate for yourself or are you looking for ma career move etc??

There's two aims really.
1) I'm a structural engineer at the moment but want to move trades so I can get a bit more practical (sitting at a cad machine all day isn't my idea of fun!) but I've done a bit of laminating before during work experience (years ago!!) and minor boat repairs.

2) I've got a few ideas for my kit car and a new build planned so want to be able to design structural components, make the moulds then produce the parts

It may be worth looking on Cranfield University's website as they do a few various courses on Composites and Design. Not sure on costs etc but I know a few people who have done them.

Good luck.
