Don't forget that Logan has been kicking most peoples arses in his sprint Evo for two years and that's when he's using proper road tyres and a few of us are on R888's, so there's a lot more to going quickly than just the tyre choice. Feel and feedback and trust in the information that the car is giving you, is probably paramount to driving quickly and safely anywhere; nowhere more so than a wet race track.

I would save the R888's for now and christen them when you can really lean on them. Best of luck and let me know how you get on on Saturday :D

You're forgetting Stu, Kim was the Rainmeister on Goodyear F1 Asymetric but that wasn't the question.

888s are surprisingly good in the wet. They don't like standing water but neither do most treaded road tyres. Your biggest hazard on a wet track is over confidence. I'd be inclined to stick with the 888s and learn them gradually.

BP held a track day at Snett a couple of years ago on a wet Feb. day, even Duncan was there :). In the morning, everyone, almost without exception, had a spin regardless of tyre choice. So what does that tell you?

Take it easy and keep off the grass :)

I'd take the 888's along in the car and take a view on the day. There's no telling at the moment exactly how wet the surface will be.

Thanks a bunch for the advice guys :cheers2:
I stuck with the R888's today and was astounded with the progressive and predictable nature of them. They performed way beyond my expectations and without the sudden break away that I've been accustomed to with road tyres. Once warm they really do adhere to the track. Shame my gearbox only lasted an hour on track before destroying itself, But hey it was fun whilst it lasted :)

Cheers

Bigger and better things to come Jon now that the shackles of a weak 5 speed design are broken :)
