I think its a shame to lose a TV programme thats car based as its one less chance to see something of interest.
It was foolish of Channel Five to try and emulate Top Gear, which in my opinion is fantastically photgraphed, with stunning camera work and the editing is usually top notch - Stu must have poor reception in carrot cruncher central

. Fifth Gear was never going to compete with that or the way the TG team gel together, which has in fact taken the edge off the program in many ways as it certainly has become repetative and pretty low brow, and hence lost the content that made the gloss of the presenters shine. Clarksons ego is primarily the thing responsible for this I suspect as he has become so popular I guess theres lots of people agreeing to his every idea whereas before perhaps the ideas came from varied sources, you still have to thank him for making it all more acceptable to be car-related and actually have some popular support though, Chris Goffey never managed that !!
Tom Ford is a fabulous bloke, a true car nut and has done lots of amatuer rallying and such, and in some ways is the best presenter as he doesnt have to have the driving pressures on him Tiff, Plato and VBH do. I think Vikki is fun and yes she has the piglety laugh but after a couple of goes that gets boring,l you realise she's not Megan Fox and the whole thing gets a bit passe. Tiff is worth keeping in small amounts as he is such a legend and you cant help but chuckle when you see him being naughty in whatever it is he's driving, Plato I think is a great racer, and gives the tests a good edge of pedigree but is such a poor presenter that I find him quite a chore to watch on the gogglebox. I used to like Jason Barlow although he's northern and his voice was annoying, and frankly the bloke off Drivers Republic has the personality of a packet of Jacobs crackers - if he was any more boring and banal you'd use him to wipe up spills in the kitchen !!
I think the best replacement would be something that tests cars, modern car related stuff, has a proper segment on motorpsort each week, a look at the different car tuning areas every now and again (and I dont mean some jokey snide pointing at some Saxos with bodykits) and actually engages the general public with perhaps someone like Richard Hammond who is young enough, but old enough, funky enough yet believable enough with an obvious enthusiasm but proper presenting skills rather than just a motorsport background. THEN add in a dash of VBH and Tiff, with perhaps a guest presenter each week who has an interest in cars..eg JayKay, Rowan Atkinson, Steve Coogan etc etc
Or failing that ME !!! I'd be proper Bo on't'telly !!
