What a great day, last night I was worried by the weather as it started raining in King's Lynn, but this morning I was greeted by clear skys.
Surface was fairly clean this time, not much in the way of stones and other debris, driving standards were good and everyone seemed to have a good time. There didn't seem to be as many attending as there has been in the past but that's fine 'cos then there's more space on the track for me!
The RAF guys (and gals) were excellent hosts and gave up their weekends to marshall the event and kept things running smoothly.
I opted to run R888's (I had no choice as I couldn't find a spare set of suitable wheels) and they were awesome, loads of grip, wear was nice and even, very grippy, oh, and did I mention - they stuck like the proverbial s*** to a blanket. On one occasion, I over did it on the high speed sweeping bend, started sliding, and said to my passenger (Andy) 'we're going off'. I kept the throttle pinned and braced for the inevitable - but thse R888's gripped and pulled us round. I then liked this technique so much, on the subsequent laps I was braking going into the corner to unsettle the back and drifting the whole thing. Great fun, much more importantly I was getting good exits speeds.
As I had Andy with me, he had a few goes out in the Nissan as well, and thoroughly enjoyed it, it was interesting to see his very different driving style and approach to the corners, I guess that comes from driving FWD in a race series!
I know a lot of people don't like marham - for the stone chips and vague feel for the racing line on such a wide track - but stones were not really a problem and I learn't a lot about driving to the limits today. The great thing is, when it all goes wrong and you overcook it, you just end up hitting a few cones, like I did on my last lap when I suddenly run out of talent.
Sorry I didn't get a chance to come over and chat with BigBimma and Sasman, I saw you two tussling a few times, looks like you had plenty of fun too.
I hope you got home OK Phil (after loosing the tow car's keys:p) Drop me a line if you fancy Cadwell and I'll book in too.
All in all, a great fun day, and cheap too if you exclude the 90 litres of petrol I used for 130 miles

Highly recommended.
EDIT: And thanks to the Raf guys for hosting this, and Ben for doing all the admin to allow us to attend.
