Final Round of BP Sprint Challenge
What a great day i had yesturday! Its just such a shame its all over for this year.
I can honestly say `ol yella did`nt miss a beat all day!
It was nice to see Rob turn up and say hello, and it was nice to see warboys little manic charade. And to see Ady there armed with that camera. I must apologise for not putting two and two together and realising that the other gerry, was our honda rush! Doh!
I did get a run in gerry`s dax.... albeit kneeling on the passenger seat facing backwards with my head hanging over the roll hoop looking down at the rear axel while gerry tried to find every pot hole in the carpark in order to make it clonk! I`m glad he did`nt go much futher as motion sickness may have kicked in!:D So glad it turned out to be no worse than a knackered shock!
I think Lee had fun in the Ax? and i`m pleased he got the msa log book sorted as well. (you done well not to spin it on the grass)
Then we come to Logan! He must get bored of picking up tropheys? Not one, not two, but three awards went his way!:D Stupidly i had got it into my head that i might just have improved my game enough that i might not have been totaly out of it! Personaly i find the biggest battle is with myself! I had a second practise run that i was well happy with and went down as a 79.97 great i thought just two seconds behind the mighty mr B! But this was soon cancelled and his time written by my name, which was then crossed out and a N/T in its place. They were having some real comunication problems i think! I then spent the next two runs trying to hard, and out braked myself. The third and final was heading back in the right direction, but was still only an 80.50. And obviously Our logan had steamed into the 75`s and that left me two or three seconds then behind john start. So i came last again! What i ask myself is if i had another 100bhp could i realy worrie logan? - No probably not, but i must be getting better?
Stu/Trev you were missed! Stu the bottom section of the course had your name written all over it, Stick heaven!:coolgleamA:

I think the greatest discipline that this years sprint stuff has taught/is teaching me is that the harder you drive, the slower you drive. I'll be honest, as fun as the BM is it's really tough to drive cleanly and therefore quickly. This results in big grins but crap times and I'll have to work out a decent compromise for this sooner rather than later.
I think it's not coincidence that the quickest drivers I know also happen to be the smoothest (in no particular order Logan, Mike Blackmore, Kim Adams and Simon McGee) Sideways can be quick, just look at Gerry Marshall, but I don't have the skill, finesse or overall car control to slide and maintain speed.
Onwards and upwards eh

Another excellent event with BP to the fore, congratulations to Logan on some good driving and another section win, (you will need a bigger house soon to house all the pots) but also to Russ who having had the boat in dry dock for some stability aids and for honing his driving skills has shown some consistent improvement.
Well done to Lee and Warboys (Pink Wheels ?) and of course to Adrian for shooting 3,000 snaps
Comiserations to Gerry who did not have the best of days but if you are getting fed up with the Dax Gerry happy to swap for the Scoobie

There are two reasons for the obscure choice in pink wheels, and I feel like I need to explain, hehehehe:
1) I am in the Demon Tweeks sponsorship scheme and I learnt from a good friend who rallies classic Porsche's that you are more likely to have your photograph taken and published if your car stands out. I think mine does with the rather pink wheels and graphics. On the basis that DT payout for every published photo I though it would be a good idea to make the car stand out a little from the crowd rather than leaving it plain white (that was the original plan). Oh, and the '993' porsche style graphics are down to its 993cc capacity (which just also happens to be the chassis code for the last of the aircooled 911's).
2) I have an understanding wife, but she could always be more understanding when it comes to cars and motorsport. In a quest to release funds from the family bank account, and to get her more interested I thought a splash of pink might help, along with a crash helmet for her birthday ( a very very brave purchase, not recommended unless you have discussed it first porbably!). Anyway it had the desired effect and the budget did go up, she also came to North Weald at the weekend to spectate. I took great delight in telling her that if she had completed one timed run she would have won an award as there were no other lady drivers and there is always a 'fastest lady' trophy up for grabs. This has had the desired effect. I now need to buy her some overalls!
Finally, the wheels were cheap ;-))
