strange goings on in transit

i have an issue with my transit connect , its all running well and as smooth as it should be etc.. but there is an electrical problem ,
just wondered if anyone had any ideas ?
symptons are :
head lights get brighter nd dimmer like its pulsating
heater fan is the same
and the clocks loose there lights , rpm,speed,fuel gauge,temp drops to the bottom like there not working then spring back to life , battery light comes on then off again (most of the time) occasionally get all different warning lights flash up ,sometimes clocks just hold a speed/rpm then drop after a while and back to normal ,
i get a whizzy buzz like a relay or something when the clocks drop

i got no idea what it is but like i say it all runs fine and starts every morning

do you have the right size battery for your it as pablo had somethink like this on his sierra and turned out to be wrong battery or is the alternator lose not giving enuf current to charge the battery?

alt belt is definatly not loose in fact its over tight and sounds like i have a supercharger fitted

its a wierd one ,

how about the wires from the alternator or the picups that creats the charge in it

It could be worth checking the voltage at the battery with and without the engine running and with the enine running through a rev range. It could be the alternator voltage regulator that's causing fluctuations to supply volts.

i'v had a little look and a little wiggle but not got to involved yet , just open to suggestions as i dont have a clue ,, the lights i can understand playing up if its an alt/battery problem but the clock issues have thrown me

i had someone check the battery / alt with a multimeter and he said yeah its all ok , but i better get of my arse and have a look myself

Had this problem with a connect at work. Turned out one on the rear bulbs had been put in wrong and was earthing out all the electrics on the van. When you went faster the headlights got brighter! Have you had any bulbs replaced recently?

Could be the voltage regulator in the alternator commom problem on connects. It has some sort of smart charging sysytem had a prioblem on mine at about 100K.
