Well we had a great day at Mallory Park, dry all day, no queues to get on track and great driving by everyone out there! A little bit hair-raising for Andy at one point but I'm sure he'll tell that story!

Here are a couple of snaps from the day

Hi Steve,

Was indeed a great day, well organised and just the right numbers on track - no jams, but enough other cars to have a few good-natured chases. Good behaviour all-round on track, except for me spinning once o'course!! The LMA championship-leading Clio was awesome; a proper quick driver on slicks in a racecar, but mixing smoothly with the rest of us from what I saw.

Have told a brief story of my spin in my 'mechanical woes' thread - http://www.bigpower.co.uk/showthread.ph ... post233991. Sadly the car had to be recovered home due to a rattling big end. Likely culprits so far (engine isn't apart yet) are oil surge round Gerrards, an oil temp of 130deg on one session, and oil that had probably done a bit too much service. Don't think I'll take an Impreza round Mallory again, to be honest, even once its sump is baffled.

Think the black 911 GT3 in the pic is the one I chased for one session. I would reel him in on the brakes, we carried similar corner speed, then he would out-accelerate me off the corner. He would overcook it out of the hairpin, as in your pic, and I would catch up again. Shame I didn't see him afterwards for a chat and a laugh about it! (...don't know about their particular egos but the Porsche boys don't always like a car with 1/10th of the value being just as quick!!)

Good day, shame about the ending for my car.

Andy

Hi Andy

Sorry to hear that you topped your car, baffled sump should cure that one in the end hopefully.

The GT3 guys seemed like a pretty good sport, it looked like he was getting the tail out on the hairpin mostly for fun!

Anyway, glad to hear that you had a good time (aside from the engine!), hope to see you at another one sometime.

Cheers
