How do you carry out a compression test on these engines?

Not sure off the top of my head mate. Will dig out something tomorrow. Seem to remember you need to have some special tool.

Have you looked on mazdarotaryclub ?

Are you worried or having problems ?

Hi Gareth, I haven't looked anywhere for the info yet. Starting has improved but it still spins for what seems an age before firing up despite plugs, leads, coil packs, up-rated starter, air filter. The Mazda dealer suggested the cat had collapsed but I swapped that for a cat replacement and now they're saying to do a

What model of Rx7 is it mate???? Engine type????

You can do a compression test with a normal compression tester.

Car runs ok???? Just starting problem????

Its an RX8 mate, an RX7 is a bit raw for Gerry :-D

I can do raw. The Dax doesn't have a radio

As Gareth says, it's an RX-8. Starting seems the only real problem but doesn't seem to have much go in it for a so-called sports car (it's the only one I've driven so can't compare).

I'm near Bedford, I have a compression tester but with two plugs and two compression stages, don't know where to stick it

Thanks for your help. From the link to the MRC and other searches it seems a compression check is rather more involved and requires a special bit of kit.

One interesting piece of info, it should only take about 30 mins so my dealer's estimate of 2.5 hours and

See if you can get hold of a guy called Jaydee Gerry. He is a bit of a wizard with anything rotary, but equally, elusive. Your best bet may be to go through Paul @ Whifbitz and see if they can either do it or get Jaydee in (He works closely with Paul on rotary stuff)

Whifbitz are near Enfield if that helps
