Well a quick update on the R.
I've now owned this car for over 5 years - in that time fuel has shot through roof, I've spent loads of money on her - I've toyed with selling her - but everytime I drive it, I fall in love with the car again.
Knowing what I do now, I don't think I'd ever buy a GTR again, they are money pits and you need very deep pockets to get the car to where it should have been from stock. The money I have spent has always been by choice save for the need for a new clutch, CAS or the odd earthing strap.
After the last few weeks of driving the golf, driving the GTR is a revelation, smooth, comfortable and FAAAAASSSST. The tractive grip is amazing, the power delivery savage, the braking immense, all in all, I don't think for the money I find a car to compete.
So plan for the GTR, no more modifications and decided she is a keeper for good!. Can't wait till I have a nice big garage, then I can start really getting her clean.
