Launch Control

Post by warboys »

Is anyone here using a Motec ECU to provide launch control?

In fact for that matter is anyone using an aftermarket launch control system?

i had it on my pulsar, it made alot of noise and smoke, it did help with launch but i think it was a crude way of doing it and i dont think it was set up properly.

here i am at the drag night we had the other year

i was running a Greddy emanage ultimate with the Greddy button on the steering wheel.

just found a video of it in my old back garden

like i said very smokey not setup properly but did the job the few times i used it.

I run an M4, it is quite old, but it does the trick. I want to know how easy it is to get it to do launch control. I thin I need some wheel speed sensors and a fly by wire throttle, not really sure though.

I am interested in what other alternatives there are, with or without the Motec controlling it.

The car only has three cylinders which seems to rule out a few options, I also don't want the expense of something like Racelogic.

All I want is consistency off the start line. I know practice makes perfect, but its not that simple with the way my car is setup.

Any help gratefully received.

Would have thought Gary would be your best bet. Or maybe Duncan?

What is it about the set up of your car that makes it not that simple?

Due to the non oem tb, non oem throttle cable and the oem pedal, throttle control is far from easy. I am now considering having a pedal custom made from billet to make life a little easier.

I would have thought that using an electronic system would be easier, but it would appear thats not the case from my research. Unless anyone knows of a simple DIY way of doing it.

I'm using launch control through my Solaris ecu.

Works pretty well IMO.

Do you have a fly by wire throttle body? How does the ecu do it, does it cut ignition?
