There is a launch control mode but it's not that good to be honest. I have found the best ways to get off the line is to either hold the brakes with your left foot and rev the car in gear then release the brakes or get the car rolling slightly then swiftly put your foot to the floor and it will hook up without spinning the wheels.

Thanks for that just had some good news have been reading recalls and found the engine in the late 01 to early 03 had a bit of trouble was a bit worried just spoke to the guy and the engine was rebuilt by bmw when it had done 15000 miles, phew!
