What a day, my most enjoyable Sprint this yearImage

I honestly thought I was toast when I saw Mr Brookes was entered! As Kenny has said its a quick circuit!

So after the 2nd Practice when I found I was 2 seconds up I was very surprised but knew kenny was only going to get much much quicker as he hadn't get used the full brunt of his horsepower!

And sure enough, 1st timed run he took 4 seconds of the time and ended up 3 tenths quicker, myself on a 72 dead, Kenny on a 71.71.

2 Runs left, and I knew I was facing an uphill struggle, as Kenny was gaining more knowledge and confidence in the course and saking lots of questions and the course.

2nd timed run, I decided to give it everything I could and went for it big time....I knew I had gone quicker, but how much, I had no idea, all I knew is I was shaking ridiclously with adrenalin and knew I wouldn't gain much more from the lap, maybe a couple of tenths but nothing huge. When the times went up I had taken 8 tenths off my time to gain a 71.2 and Kenny went a tad slower with a 72.07.

We both knew it was close and it was going to come down to the last run, unfortunely as we were lining up the course was read flagged as a MX-5 had embedded itself in the barrier, not what I needed to see as I was trying to get pysched up to try and go quicker than the last run!!

Anyway, the last run was going well, I thought I had gained sometime through the first 4 corners that all interlink, left, then left, then right, then left again which are all 3rd gear with no straight inbetween to getting teh car setup for all of these is very important, messing up on 1 leads to the whole section being wasted. But then I came to teh first chicane, which was very tight and 2nd gear for me, Kenny was taking it in first to stop him getting lag from his turbo out of it. Anyway, I braked slighty to late and took out a cone....run ruined....I was proper p!ssed:banghead:

Returned to the paddock in a massive grump with myself. Only then see Kenny on his last lap lockup and head straight through all the cones of the last chicane which was after the quickest part of the track.....

I then knew I had done it, shame we both messed up the last run, but I think we were both to pysched up with the pressure, as there was noway I was going to let him beat me easily!

I'm sure with another run then Kenny would of got quicker with his extra power, as I was right on the limit in the corners as I knew on the 2 fast straights he would be reeling me in!!

Anyway, top day, good competition, top track and nice weather....can't get better than that:hurray:

Nice to the usual suspects along to support!

Gerry - nice to see the Dax, what a loverly car!! Well presented and looked bloody quick from where I was standing.

Good to see you enjoying it, I would say you looked happier than when you were Sprinting the Impreza!

Trev - what a day for ya mate!! least you got it fixed and got back out there, think you may have managed to take John Start if you had driven all your practice laps!

Russ - Unlucky mate....feel for ya. Been in the same position myself:banghead:

Crackin day tho:cheers2:

Realised how much I have missed competing but good to see the commitment of those taking part
Gerry tried so hard he ran out of fuel (is that thing jucier than the Scoobie?)

Trev addded balast to give everyone else a chance

Russ tried weight saving by reducing the water in the Rad (thankfullly Logan came up with a spare hose to scotch that little ploy

Logan, well Logan was Logan though a little concerned at the competion but held his nerve for a well deserved win

Mike S he just took care of my next car keep up the good work mike

Well done to everyone BP was well represented on and off the track

I really enjoyed Hethel. Middle of the class was a better result than I'd hoped for the Dax's first outing. The recovered second run attempt was a good lesson in not letting the fuel level get too low. Third run I was worrying, was it fuel or something more serious.

Nice that so many people found the car to be OK. It confirms that I was right in replacing the Impreza. The pleasure, in not worrying about turbos, heatsoak and the rest of that nonsense, was immense. The Dax is a much easier car to drive than the Impreza and is a real credit to the guy who built it.

It also enforces my thought that an MX5 class is the way forward.:coolgleamA:

Yup, me too, was awesome, its a crackin track!

Russ - my advice is you need to get yourself a more suited car if you wanna whoop Trev's ass! As the ole Yella beast is lacking in essentials. I would say you'd go quicker in a Standard WRX RA or STI than yours due to the improved gearing and LSD's!

Thanks Logan! - i think? I will take it as a total compliment if you think its the car letting me down and not the nut piloting it!:) - I did manage to crack a brake disc trying to push hard last sunday! - I will look at doing something with my sprinting choice of car after ive sorted out a replacement for the mazda and saved some pennies up again.

Russ has a Mazda 6 series that he's been using for a while as an allrounder Lord H

I presume it is that he's referring to.

I'm sure its a bit of both, as we can all be better drivers!! but as I say, I think you would go loads quicker with a more suitable specced car.

Anyone got any of the pics yet that were taken???
