Thankyou for your technical input to Bigpower Duncan,quite a lot of things just happen from where we sit but i know it is very time consuming behind the scenes ,i wish you the very best of luck with your future plans and look forward to catching up with you at snetterton in october .

Stuart i would gladly lend you my technical expertise in forum design but i havn't any ,sorry ,

from what i have seen so far i shouldn't be a problem for you , top effort.

Yeah - I seem to remember that we tried that before and got flamed for publicing someone's name in a public place as if the world was going to end. We could all just add our real names into our signature if we chose to let people know what it is..

Oh and can we have a choice over colour schemes - I really cant abide white text on a dark background - it is impossible to read IMO.

I may get flamed for this but i really don't know what was wrong with the old site. It looked good, felt nice and friendly to use, was impactive and very different from all the others.

It had all if not most of the functionality you could want and if anything i thought you might use it as a skeleton template, making changes here and there as you went along.

It really was well done i thought and surely wouldn't be too tough to administer or make even major changes too. Was it not easier to revamp it rather than start from scratch again?

I'll give you an example.....Pistonheads site, which has looked basically the same and has changed very little in the years i've been on it although subtle changes have been made from time to time and all to the better too but it's basically the same site it's always been, very familiar and user friendly/easy to navigate/lots of functionality and each update has been well received by all members plus it's look is very much like a corporate identity that everyone knows and will most likely stay looking pretty much the same for a good long time yet.

I'm sure the new BP site will be brilliant when it's all sorted and i'm not being critical or anything here but just asking the question because i have to say i miss the old site.

phpBB which it was run through could be hacked just by looking at it funny, I'm sure all the bolt on goodies like the garges etc... will make a return, it might just take a while.

Francis, Maff is correct with regards the security etc ... the site will rebuild back up but with a far better engine below it.

There's lot's to do so bear with us.

Remember Bigpower is more about what we do, not just the forum as this club is more hands on / personal than many of the others.

Duh...If someone had said about the security issues i wouldn't have bothered posting. Clearly it's a concern and i had no idea a completely new website is the way forward. Thanks for explaining that.

Bring on the changes!!
