New Sprint Idea for 2010 on a budget

The concept is spot on as the feeling is B5s days could be numbered as the cost of running the cars in this class increases and people look for a more cost effective way of competing.

For me it would have to be rear wheel drive I would also suggest that all driver aids are switched off when competing as it provides a better skill test,

i do think its a really good idea all having a standard car , how about other marques as a thought ,
like for instance mk3 golf gti's as there super cheap aswell , mk2's would be the ideal but finding standard ones might be tricky , or fiesta xr2i's astra's ,e36 320i got me thinking now of something suitable

I think its an age thing Trev! Us thirty somethings that had a miss spent youth lusting after eighties hot hatches kinda miss the appeal of retro roadsters!- Harry and i have had many conversations about just this.
Brilliant idea though Gerry. And i totaly agree with the concept, but getting everyone to agree on one make will be hard work! - my vote would go on a clio 172! - well thats the plan :-D

MX5s are rear wheel drive and the only driver aid is a feckin' servo.

i don't know the time constraints on a sprint but why don't you just have one car . just chip in ex amount towards entry running costs over ex amount of rounds then it is just down to the individuals ability , may well attract people who would otherwise dismiss it through not being able to buy /prep/trailer/ another car .

Sounds like a great idea 8) . Our plans for next year are already made, but if this gets off the ground we'll be there in 2011 Can't so no to a bit of friendly competition....if there's such a thing.

I think this is a great idea. MX5s are superb cars !! But yeah finding a certain car that everyone agrees with is going to be impossible !!!

The JDM version has an LSD and the UK doesnt I seem to remember reading ?

There are plenty of places that do cheap parts for them too.

After seeing the MX5 championship at Snetterton last year and seeing 20-30 out on track at the same time mixed in with the Nippon cars it looked fantastic fun !

I feel the open face helmet, biplane style goggles, leather driving gloves and a white scarf should be optional though
