I don't think this will see the end of trackday tyres as such, just ban them from public roads. Personally we never (as a rule) use our 888's on public roads they're too valuable for that. I'm not talking money but safety it's too easy to damage them even slightly on public roads and then to trust your safety in them on track.....

How will you be able to drive between stages on rallies then? - plus it will mean that you will need an extra set of tyres to go to the track with or trailer your car there!
On a plus side, if you look at the actual EU proposals they are looking at tighter controls over remoulds too (which can't be a bad thing).
In the end, the tyre manufacturers have got 3 years to redesign their track tyres to meet the new regs and as it's becoming a larger propotion of their business they will find a way round it
