For me personally it would be opl as there are usually two of us that share the car so this gives us more flexibility throughout the day.
Basically it comes down to being aware as others have said but where is the line drawn as to which is faster a straight line car or a corner car who gets the clear run the guy down the straight or the guy round the bends we all paid the same so we all have as much right to the racing line as the next man,
If this is becoming a hindrance or an inconvenience to some take your ards and go on test days you can do what the hell you like on those.
Cheers

not everyone has high power cars but that does not mean there below par drivers
the person in the fastest car does not have any more rights than someone in a lesser car
i did think people overtaking on corners a little naughty
oh and im a fan of opl

Small one's are more juicy
Absolutly agree with you jason :thumb:sidewaysfletch wrote:For me personally it would be opl as there are usually two of us that share the car so this gives us more flexibility throughout the day.

Thanks Stuart, I do try to keep an eye on my mirrors as being passed does happen quite regularly!Bealo wrote: Alex actually i wasn't referring to you as i would say you were one of the best drivers out there in terms of being very aware of what was going on around you.
Perhaps i shouldn't have used slower and used experienced/awarness on track instead.
Gerry i never said i was fast and of course there are always faster cars out there.
The point i was trying to make was some drivers were a lot more aware of what was going on than others and only that point, and that i think they might have been better off in the first group.
Sorry if i riled anyone with my comment as it wasn't my intention.

You hit the nail on the head with awareness - shame that's not an easy thing to put into groups.
Cheers,
Alex
I think your being a bit extreme with the Ards statement Jason! as Gerry said we are having a good discussion. If thats the case are you saying TA cars like Dunc's and Gary's shouldn't be on track on a BP track evening????sidewaysfletch wrote:

Regarding which faster then to me it has to be the car that gets round the corner quicker. especially at Snett where there are 2 long straights.
The Discussion was about how some people aren't as aware as others and in not being aware they are spoiling everyones fun.
I think learning about track craft includes track etiquette and other track users not just racing lines.

stuart i definately was not implying that faster cars like garys, duncans or yours should not be on Bp trackdays as they get round the corners as quick as they get down the straights 8) what i am trying to put across is the fact that it can be as frustrating for a slower car in a straight line to be passed and then held up around the bends . i would like to think that my track awareness is pretty good but i cannot be off holding up gary or yourself if the timing is wrong but i think the argument lies in how long you are held up for and not that you are held up so to speak . as long as you are let by at the first available opportunity then you can ask no more . the bookatrack days i have been on jonny has said in the briefing a quick flash of the lights to let the guy in front know you are quicker can be employed if you are having problems.

That's it in a nutshell really. We all pay the same for the track time so are all entitled to get as much enjoyment as we can.
With no overtaking in the corners it's a simple case of who gets there first gets the corner. I wouldn't want a slower car to brake early so I get through first, but I would expect it to move over at the earliest opportunity to let me get by.
